How We Met
It started in 2023 with a question: “What’s your favorite rock?” Rachel’s answer was the Hope Diamond at the National Museum of Natural History. We discovered a shared love of curiosity, critters, and museums, and spent our early dates exploring everything D.C. had to offer.
Our Journey
Before long, we traded the city for the shore and took our first trip together to Chincoteague Island to see the wild ponies, at a hotel that promised “Ponies on site.” Dan also introduced Rachel to New York City in January of 2024. They explored the Met, the MoMA, and Rachel took her first yellow cab ride.
The Proposal
It was clear we had found something worth keeping. We planned a trip to Oregon to visit Schreiner’s Iris Gardens for their 100th anniversary, and early one morning, surrounded by rows of irises in bloom, Daniel proposed.
